You can easily search all of the APGA Pipeline Engineer Competency Standards by using the filtering options on this page.

  • Select a by competency area by using the drop-down menu in the competency areas box.
  • Select a particular competency by its unique identifier in the ID box. Please note, only published competency standards are listed here. Competency standards will be added to the ID list once they are finalised and published.
  • Produce a list of all the competency standards in a particular stream by selecting Construction, Design, Operation or General from the Select a stream box.
  • Produce a list of competency standards by level by selecting Core, Elective or Specialist from the Select a level box.
  • Produce a list further modified to suit your needs by selecting more than one box. For example, by selecting Construction in the stream box and Core in the level box, you will produce a list of all the core competency standards in the construction stream.

Using the Competency System

APGA’s Pipeline Engineering Competency System (PECS) has been developed for the use of its members who represent the broad spectrum of the pipeline industry.  There is a range of uses for the system that are directed to training and developing the pipeline engineering capability within the industry.

Members that wish to adopt and incorporate the PECS into their own competency systems must identify the relevant PECS as “© Australian Pipelines and Gas Association Ltd 2020” and acknowledge APGA as the source.

If you wish to use the PECS as part of training courses you offer on a commercial basis to external parties, other than for designing the courses, you must first obtain APGA’s consent.

The Competency Standards will be revised periodically so that they remain current and fit for use. APGA welcomes member comments regarding additions or changes to the Standards. Please contact the Chair of the PECS Committee
