Focus to move to implementation
APGA has made a submission to the AEMC’s proposed amendments to the Natural Gas Rules on the regulation of covered pipelines.
The amendments, based on recommendations from the AEMC’s final report for the Review into the scope of economic regulation applied to covered pipelines, aim to improve the function of Australia’s gas transportation market. They are the culmination of one strand of the gas market reforms initiated by the 2016 east coast gas market reports by the AEMC and ACCC.
APGA, with other gas industry bodies, has worked closely with the AEMC throughout what has been a highly consultative review process. In its submission today, APGA makes it clear that considers the proposed changes to be accepted policy and that its focus now is on ensuring the proposed rules are practical to implement as drafted.
