Biodiversity offsets are a complex area of environmental legislation, with different policies existing under State, Territory and Federal governments. They can also add significantly to project costs and contribute to delays in construction. This presentation will provide an overview of the recently published “APGA Guideline for Biodiversity Offsets”, which was prepared to assist stakeholders in the pipeline and gas industries understand how biodiversity offsets can impact on their projects. The presentation will discuss:

  • Important differences in the offset legislation and policy across jurisdictions.

  • How are offsets calculated?

  • What is an offset market and where do they exist?

  • Why offset costs and impacts to scheduling should be considered during project feasibility?

  • How offsets can contribute to a projects’ social licence.

The webinar will be presented by Thomas Wright and David Francis from Cardno who co-authored the guideline, along with David Coleman from Kleinfelder. There will be time for questions and you are encouraged to send any questions you have about the guideline ahead of the webinar to Thomas.

Please note APGA Technical Webinars are open to members only. If you are not a member, you will not be able to book.
