Ninety years in the land of the unexpected
Join us for the Sydney Dinner on Thursday 29 August and find out about the challenges and successes of operating for nine decades in Papua New Guinea.
Guest speaker Ian Black, Oil Search Senior Vice President Associated Gas Expansion and AGX Project Director, will provide a brief overview of Oil Search’s 90 year journey in Papua New Guinea and an update on the progress of recovery from last year’s earthquake in the Southern Highlands. Ian will also discuss how national content is one of the key drivers of Oil Search’s success, and the steps taken to overcome the many and various challenges of working on projects in unique and constantly changing environments. Oil Search is involved in the Associated Gas Project, the P’nyang Project and the Papua LNG Project. The company and its joint venture partners have an agreement to develop the Elk-Antelope and P’nyang gas fields off PNG’s shores. The project could produce about 5.4 million tonnes of LNG a year and first production is expected by around 2024.
