Current outlook, trends and challenges for the resources and energy sector in South Australia

Our guest speaker will be South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Knol. SACOME is the leading industry body representing the resources sector in South Australia. SACOME members generate 50 per cent of South Australia’s exports, $6.4 billion of its gross state product, and contribute $299m in royalties to the State annually.

Rebecca will examine the resource and energy sector and its unwavering ambition to drive South Australia’s economic and technological future. She will outline how energy security and affordability are key considerations for the sector as we move towards net zero emissions by 2050. Ahead lies the challenge of cohesive national energy and climate change policy to assist this outcome, alongside the need to develop enabling regulation and improving community understanding of our sector. The sector is dynamic and innovative, it embraces change and is well placed to meaningfully address the future challenges.
