APGA is the peak industry body for the transmission pipeline industry in Australia. The association represents companies and individuals operating over a wide range of sectors. Our membership includes construction contractors, some government regulators, manufacturers and distributors of equipment and materials, pipeline owners and operators as well as suppliers of special services. Our membership is expanding with gas production companies increasingly participating and companies from the water and waste water sectors now attending our events and joining the association.
Membership of APGA provides extensive networking opportunities and access to useful information about the industry. With more than 25 annual functions, members and their guests learn about new developments and opportunities in the industry. APGA membership also increases the industry’s influence in the national energy debate and in the development of government policy, including regulatory matters, that impact on profitability and future investment in transmission pipelines.
APGA’s committees are proactive, providing information exchange, active engagement in policy development and access to new developments in the industry.
APGA members receive regular updates from the Secretariat and a free copy of The Australian Pipeliner. Full APGA members receive a free listing in the APGA Directory/Year Book (both in the printed and online versions).
The APGA Annual Conference and Exhibition is the main event in the calendar of the pipeline industry providing opportunities for participants from all sectors of the industry to exhibit their goods to major companies and decision-makers.
APGA lobbies government at all levels on issues relevant to the industry and, through the Research and Standards committee, in partnership with the Energy Pipelines Cooperative Research Centre, co-ordinates internationally recognised research in conjunction with the US-based Pipeline Research Council International Inc (PRCI) and the European Pipeline Research Group (EPRG).
APGA has developed a Code of Practice for the Coal Seam Gas industry’s gathering lines, undertaken policy work on climate change, environmental management and economic and technical regulation and established a successful and innovative Young Pipeliners Forum, with YPF committees in each state conducting educational tours, networking events and mentoring sessions for our young people. We also provide grants to young people to travel internationally to further their education and experience.
APGA has six levels of membership: Owner, Lead, Corporate, Individual, Employee and Honorary Life Membership. The first three categories are classed as Full Membership, which entitles holders to a broader range of services, allows the member a vote for Board Membership and also allows a member’s representative to stand for the APGA Board of Directors.
