Queensland-based legal firm Thomson Geer has offered to host a seminar for APGA members only on the Queensland Government’s recently introduced Bill, the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Bill 2017.
The Bill proposes amendments to the legislative landscape governing the building and construction industry in Queensland and shifts the pendulum of power back in favour of the subcontractor. For example, every claim from a subcontractor will be a payment claim under security of payment legislation. There are also significant penalties for failures to comply with certain amendments (including custodial prison sentences).
The seminar will step through the proposed changes and focus on issues that Thomson Geer believes relevant to APGA members.
There will be no cost to attend the seminar, but places are limited so book early.
Open to APGA Members only.
